Do I need a Doctor’s referral to see any of your healthcare professionals?

No. A Doctor’s referral is not required to book a visit. However, your group/personal insurance policy may require a doctor’s referral in order to reimburse you for any charges you may incur; whether it is physiotherapy, massage therapy, chiropody, acupuncture, custom stockings or custom braces/orthotics.

Does OHIP cover your services?

As of April 1, 2005 government-funded physiotherapy services are no longer covered by OHIP. Physiotherapy on Lakeshore welcomes Extended Health Benefit Plans, Motor Vehicle Accident claims (MVA) and Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) claims.

What can I expect from my first visit?

It is advised that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time to fill out the intake forms and to become acquainted with the clinic’s policies and facilities. We also recommend you bring with you any relevant doctors reports, medical test results and any other information that may assist us with your care. Your therapist will then take a thorough history and investigate your primary concerns . They will also perform a thorough assessment of the affected areas, explain the findings, determine a treatment plan and ask for your consent to receive treatment. Your therapist may also recommend a multidisciplinary program at our clinic involving treatment from multiple disciplines (Physiotherapy, Chiropractic, Massage Therapy and/or Chiropody)

What can I expect from my treatment sessions?

We can promise you that you will receive the most thorough and effective treatment possible. Your treatments can range anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour depending on your condition and the treatment required.

What should I wear?

We recommend you wear loose and comfortable clothing for your visits. We highly recommend you bring comfortable, non-restrictive clothing or athletic wear to our clinic. Your clothes should also allow us to evaluate your area of injury and also treat it, so please dress accordingly. As for footwear, we suggest comfortable, closed-toe shoes, preferably sneakers. If you have any questions, please contact us prior to your first appointment.

Will my insurance benefits pay for any of your services?

Generally, most of our services are covered by extended health benefits. Many insurance companies will cover Physiotherapy, Massage Therapy, Chiropractic Care, Chiropody, Orthotics, Customs Shoes, Compression Stockings and Acupuncture. However, we recommend that you review your policy or contact your provider to confirm the details of your plan, including coverage details and billing information. If you visit our clinic, our staff members will assist you in contacting your insurance company and asking all the appropriate questions to determine your coverage and eligibility for all of our services. Some insurance companies will allow us to bill them directly. At Physiotherapy on Lakeshore, we are more than happy to assist all patients with submitting their insurance claims. Please speak with one of our staff members to find out more about how they can help with your insurance claims.

Will your clinic treat me if I have been in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) or in a work related injury (WSIB)?

Yes. At Physiotherapy on Lakeshore, we accept all patients that may have been involved in a motor vehicle accident (MVA) or a workplace injury (WSIB). We ask that you bring all the relevant information to your first visit and our experienced staff members will help coordinate and guide you through the entire process.
